Excellent Distance Learning University!
________________________________
Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) is one of the best institutions for distance and open learning in Uttarakhand. The university provides quality education with flexible study options, making it ideal for working professionals, homemakers, and students who cannot attend regular classes.
The study material is well-structured and easy to understand. The examination process is transparent and well-managed. The faculty members and staff are supportive and helpful whenever guidance is needed. UOU offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and professional courses at affordable fees.
The university plays an important role in spreading higher education to remote and rural areas of Uttarakhand. Overall, UOU is a great choice for students who want to continue their education with flexibility and reliability.

⭐ Very Poor Experience – Serious Negligence by Uttarakhand Open University
I enrolled in the Certificate in Ayurvedic Masseur (CAM) – January 2023 Session and paid the full course fee of ₹7,450, but I was never provided with proper study materials during the valid academic period. After repeated follow-ups and escalations, I received only soft copies almost two years later, when the course validity had already expired.
The student portal now shows “Max Duration Over” and I am being asked to re-register due to expiry caused entirely by the university’s administrative failure. I was also assured by the Admission Department that my course would be extended, but till date no action has been taken and I am still unable to fill the exam form.
This has caused severe academic delay, mental stress, and financial loss. Communication is poor, accountability is zero, and student grievances are ignored.
⚠️ I do NOT recommend Uttarakhand Open University to anyone. Transparency and student support are extremely disappointing.

This is a best University. Best institute for open learning. I've done my Master's Degree in Yoga from here as in my state (assam) there was no distance degree course for Yoga so it is the best option for me, I found everybody in this University are friendly and very helpful. Dr. Bhanu Joshi (Yoga Dept.) sir helped me a lot . Thank you everyone

⭐ Extremely Disappointed – Mismanagement & No Student Support
My experience with Uttarakhand Open University has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I enrolled in the Certificate in Ayurvedic Masseur (CAM) – Jan 2023 session and paid the full fee, but the university failed to provide study materials within the academic period. After countless calls and emails, materials were shared nearly two years late, making it impossible to complete the course on time.
Now the portal shows my course as expired and I am being asked to pay again for re-registration due to their own delay. Even after assurance from the Admission Department that my course would be extended, nothing has been done so far. The same “Max Duration Over” message continues to appear.
There is no accountability, no proper response to grievances, and students are left helpless. This is a classic example of poor administration and lack of responsibility.
❌ I strongly advise students to think twice before enrolling in this university.

I would not recommend this open university to anyone who genuinely wants to study and grow. The entire system is poorly managed. Students are not given proper support or value. The evaluation process is extremely unfair — even after writing good answers, students are often given backlogs without any valid reason.
The results are delayed for months, and there’s no transparency in the marking system. It feels like marks are given randomly. Even if you apply for revaluation or RTI, the response is either delayed or not helpful at all.
It's nearly impossible to get proper guidance or support from faculty or administration. They simply don't care about student concerns. The whole experience becomes mentally draining instead of encouraging.
If you are serious about your education and want a fair and supportive system, I strongly suggest looking for a better university. This one only looks good on paper but lacks everything that makes a real learning experience.

Visited the UOU campus in Haldwani recently—what struck me first was how calm and green the surroundings feel, even though it's in a busy city. The campus is spacious, with broad walkways and lots of open lawns shaded by trees, giving it a peaceful, academic vibe.
The central library building is large and well-kept, offering both physical books and digital resources through the campus network—great for serious study. Nearby, the computer labs are open and functional, and Wi-Fi coverage is decent across most areas .
Hostel facilities exist for both boys and girls, though they seem part of a separate housing block rather than fully inside the main campus. Rooms share basic amenities like beds, almirahs and fans, and there’s free Wi-Fi inside . Hostels are clean, with separate washrooms and daily upkeep.
The campus sports area is lively—you’ll see students playing cricket, volleyball, or indoor games like chess and carrom in the activity zone or auditorium . A well-equipped gym and auditorium with projectors and audio systems are there too for events and seminars .
Cafeteria and canteen facilities are located near the academic blocks and cafeteria serves affordable meals and snacks; it’s a good place to grab a bite and connect with students . There’s also a guest room or waiting room for visiting faculty or family members .
For much-needed health support, a small medical center provides first aid for students and staff . Administrative offices, exam control rooms, seminar halls, and a reading room all line the main academic block making the campus feel well-organiz

If you really want to study and grow, I don’t suggest joining this open university. The system is badly managed, and students don’t get proper help or support.
Even after writing good answers, many students get backlogs without reason. The results come very late, and the marks don’t make sense. Asking for rechecking or RTI doesn’t help much either.
Teachers and staff are not helpful, and it feels like no one cares. The whole experience is stressful, not motivating.
It’s better to choose a university where students are respected and supported. This one only looks good from the outside.
